Mr. Burns, a post-electric play

An Outside the March Production
In association with Starvox Entertainment and Crow’s Theatre

In a post-apocalyptic world devoid of electricity, a group of survivors band together in search of food, shelter and the most precious resource of all—classic lines from The Simpsons. Part pop musical, part chilling contemporary allegory, and part Simpsons celebration, Mr. Burns is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era evolves into the mythology of another.

Our 2015 production was staged inside of Toronto’s oldest cinema, re-imagined as Toronto’s Historic Aztec Theatre. True to the world envisioned by Washburn, the production was staged entirely without the use of any on-the-grid electricity. The ensemble featured a number of OtM’s core artists, teaming up with some of Canada’s leading musical theatre stars, for a one-of-a-kind immersive experience that went nuclear on a nightly basis.
