Sacred Fire Installation

Artists and design team : Philip Cote, Anahita Dehbonehie, Nick Blais, Sébastien Heins and Ishai Buchbinder

For hundreds of years, the Anishinaabe have shaped trees to mark an important route or event. The Seven Fires Prophecy speaks of a new world in which both western and Indigenous ways of understanding will come together. From the earth, veins of colourful steel rise and intertwine to form a marker tree that resolves as a single branch. Sit. Listen. Ignite. Grow.

The natural logs that surround you bear QR codes that share Phillip Cote’s words about the prophecy and the journeys it foretells.
