THE TROJAN GIRLS
by Gillian Clark

An Immersive Experience IN DEVELOPMENT from Outside the March
In Association with Neworld Theatre
Developed with support from the National Arts Centre’s National Creation Fund
Based on Clark’s play The Ruins, developed at Two Planks and A Passion

The play follows the dizzying intertwined relationships between 17 adolescent and adult inhabitants of New Troy, a rural Canadian town circa 2009. It’s the night of the annual Duck ‘n Swing dance: the kids play around a campfire while the adults dance in the Barn, just like every year. Only this year things are a different: the hit reality show “Canadian Shed Party” is filming live and nine-year-old Cassandra has a vision the whole town is going to burn; Odysseus plans to ask Penelope to prom by jumping a bonfire on his BMX; first and last loves are united; tragedies are re-lived; and a God visits the mortals.
