“Through the TD Ready Commitment, my career has changed dramatically. I successfully helmed an enormous project, requiring collaboration with sound, lighting, costume, and set design. Excitingly, due to the groundbreaking interactive elements of our show, I was able to pioneer new technology with our Creative Technologist, including 3D printing, bodily haptic feedback, and a new way
for audiences to experience a theatre show: by playing it on a retro game controller. This all supported my greater artistic goal: to tell the story of my mother’s Huntington’s Disease.
Presenting the show yielded an explosion of interest and praise from theatre goers and non-theatre goers alike (who in turn pushed the show hard over social media), including from the Huntington’s Disease community (who raved and celebrated it), and allowed us to raise $7000 for the Huntington’s Society of Canada. We were featured on Global News, CBC Arts, an article in the Toronto Star, a videogame magazine, and many more.”
